female and menopause care

where women’s wellness meets a female chiropractor’s care

with you through all the seasons of being a woman

I’ve always believed that being a wife and mother of 3 as well as a chiropractor has made me better at understanding the complexity of women’s health. The day-to-day stress of our lives has a huge impact on our physical and emotional health. I have learned so much about women’s needs from the challenges that have come up in my own life.

At Elevate Women’s Health Centre, you’ll be supported by a female chiropractor who understands women’s health from the inside out. Our gentle, holistic approach focuses on balancing the nervous system, improving mobility, and easing discomfort so you can feel strong, vibrant, and at home in your body. Whether you’re navigating your early adult years, perimenopause, menopause, or beyond, we provide compassionate, personalized care to help you thrive in every season of womanhood.

“My first goal is to get you feeling more like yourself again. My biggest goal is to help you become truly healthy as you age.”

perimenopause & menopause

Something feels off.  You’re starting to wonder if you’ve got early onset dementia.  You’re hot as blazes then freezing cold.  You’re achey for no good reason.  You get up to pee in the night and then can’t get back to sleep no matter how much melatonin you’ve taken.  You have rotator cuff pain or frozen shoulder, but you don’t know how you did it.  You’re getting bouts of vertigo.  And the rage…. oh!  The rage that bubbles up and unleashes on your family!  You cry.  You’re tired of playing nice all the time.  You feel anxious, depressed or overwhelmed, and you’re not sure why.  And you don’t really know why your brain and body seem to be hijacked.

Sound familiar?

welcome to the amazing world of menopause!!

As a newly post menopausal woman, I can identify with so much of what my patients describe to me.  I hit my wall at 51, but looking back, I can see symptoms of menopause in my forties.  I just didn’t know what they were.  I have been researching and studying menopause extensively for the last 5 years.  What I have learned is this…

data is critical!

In order to really understand YOUR perimenopause / menopause journey, testing is critical.  I use blood work, DUTCH testing and genetic (nutrigenomic) testing as options to give you as much data about what’s happening inside your brain and body as possible. The more information we have, the better we can smooth out the journey to the you that’s waiting on the other side of this enormous life transition.

  • DUTCH testing stands for Dried Urine Test of Complete Hormones. This is a fantastic way of looking at your hormone levels as well as cortisol, estrogen detox pathways, certain neurotransmitters and methylation status.

  • In my opinion, this is the gold standard test of hormones. The benefit to DUTCH testing over bloodwork is that it gives us history. DUTCH uses the hormone metabolites in your urine to indicate the average hormone activity over the last few months, not just where they happen to be at right now, which can change by tomorrow. This test also gives you the option of testing your cortisol levels so we know how your body is responding to stress.

For more information on the DUTCH test, visit our functional health page.

  • Nutrigenomic testing is genetic testing. The important detail is that we are only looking at genes that we can impact the expression of by using supplements and/or changes in lifestyle. This is one of the biggest emerging areas of health care.

  • Nutrigenomic testing helps me understand your genetic predisposition to certain conditions. and symptoms. Nutrigenomic testing shows us which genes are intact and functioning at their best and which genes are “broken”. The great news is that just because a set of genes may be broken, they can be helped to function better with certain supplements and changes in nutrition and exercise. The more information we have, the easier it is to understand the root of the problem.

  • Proper and complete bloodwork is a foundation for understanding your health. Lab results tell us what is happening in this moment in time in your body and can cover many different aspect of health. Although I cannot order bloodwork for you, I can give you a list of the tests you need for a complete profile of your health.

  • While DUTCH testing gives us history and genetic testing tells us the foundation of your cellular health, bloodwork tells us what’s happening right now. This helps me work with your other practitioners to form a more complete treatment protocol to get you better health and wellness.
